Introducing Carmen Jones

by Pepper on March 2, 2011

I’m excited to have my first blog guest here today. Please welcome Carmen Jones, who’s here to talk about her new book, Second Chances, coming out this week from Whispers Publishing.

Pepper: Carmen, you won a writing contest through Whispers. How did that come about?

Carmen: I actually happened upon the announcement accidentally. I was trying to buy an e-book and just happened to see the writing contest posted. The writing was a lot of fun, but the waiting for the results was torture.

Pepper: I’ll bet it was. Second Chances was the winner of the African Heritage Writing Contest. Why do you enjoy writing interracial stories?

Carmen: I come from a multi-cultural background, and I really feel that America is a melting pot of cultures, races and ethnicities. To me, love bridges all of those differences.

Pepper: I would certainly agree with you there. What’s the basic plot of Second Chances?

Carmen: Second Chances is the story of star-crossed lovers who get another shot at their failed relationship. To repair their broken relationship, they have to prove that love really can conquer everything. Even a would-be killer.

Pepper: That sounds like a great story. What’s the sexiest thing about your hero?

Carmen: Wesley Hamilton oozes machismo. He’s willing to risk everything to save the woman he loves.

Pepper: That’s definitely a very sexy quality in a man. So is this story what you’d consider erotic?

Carmen: I’d say the love scenes are steamy but still very romantic. Definitely not hard core erotica.

Pepper: Does writing steamy romance add spice to your own marriage?

Carmen: I think writing and reading steamy romance novels can enhance the intimacy in your relationship by firing your imagination and your libido.

Pepper: Ooh. Lucky hubby. What’s your next story about?

Carmen: My next story has all the markings of a great romantic suspense novel: a sexy FBI agent, a feisty attorney, and a deranged serial killer.

Pepper: I’ll want to have you back for sure to tell us more about that one. Thanks for visiting with me today. Don’t forget, readers, Carmen’s book, Second Chances, is ready for release this coming Friday, March 4th. You can order it here from Whispers. And don’t forget to check out Carmen’s own blog here.

Now, here’s the blurb and the cover art for Second Chances.

Raven Kennedy thought Wesley Hamilton was the love of her life until she met his fiancée. In an attempt to salvage her pride, she abruptly returns to Atlanta to embark on a new career as the Director of the Atlanta Museum of Southern Art and History.

However, when a business acquisition brings the two face to face again, Raven is forced to confront the fact that despite his treacherous behavior, no man has ever replaced Wesley Hamilton in her heart or her bed. The fire that erupts threatens to consume them both.

Wesley Hamilton was prepared to propose to Raven Kennedy before she departed New York without a word. The betrayal had left him heart broken and bitter. When he finds out that she is in Hilton Head, he is determined to get answers from her.

Although he’s still angry with Raven, when some deranged lunatic starts trying to kill her, Wesley feels compelled to protect her at all costs. Raven is certain that the killer wants to keep her from acquiring the Solomon Cahill diary for the museum.

When they’re thrown together, both Wesley and Raven realize how much they still love each other. Can Raven overcome her fears of abandonment long enough to prove to Wesley that she never stopped loving him? Can Wesley learn to trust Raven again and thwart the would be killer who threatens to end their happiness forever?

After having loved and lost once, can there be room in the heart for Second Chances?
